Blackberry Testing Ads in BBM in Channels and Invites

BBM is one of those areas of Blackberry that have received a warm response, and is fairly popular, not only on Blackberry, but also on iOS and Android.

According to a new report, Blackberry is testing ads in BBM within certain Beta Zone builds of BBM, which if true should roll out in the coming months.

Based on the report from the folks at Berry Review, there are two types of ads: sponsored invites and sponsored channels. The sponsored invites appear in the invite section of the application while the sponsored channel posts will show up in the updates section. The monetization technique may remind Twitter users about how they started to earn.

But, it should come out as a bad news for all those BBM addicts who use it on their devices, and hate advertisements. Sponsored channels should work in a similar way as sponsored  tweets work on Twitter, and it shouldn’t be a big deal if they show up once in a while in the updates section. But, every users has his/her own preference and they may not like random updates popping up in the section. So, it all depends on how Blackberry implements it, if this report is correct.
